I Kid You Not.
I made this beautiful specimen of sugar, flour and a little fruit all by myself. I still can't believe it. I don't have much luck with baking. I rarely have all the ingreadients on hand. No let me clarify that, I rarely get all the ingredients into the bowl. So when I flipped the cake pan and this masterpiece came out, I was in shock. It was pretty darn tasty too. The recipe, Pear and Cranberry Upside Down Cake, came from Ottolenghi. Ottolenghi is a catering company who also sells out of one of their four shops in the U.K.
I would rather read recipes that cook them. I have many cookbooks but some of my favorite recipes come from food blogs. Tartelette, 101 Cookbooks and Two Fat Als are some of my favorites. People are so darn talented with their creative recipes, pretty photos and interesting stories. I find it challenging just to post a few sentences everyday. Food bloggers manage to cook. take pictures and come up with the narrative day after day. Most of them have families and/or outside jobs. I don't know how they do it, but I'm glad they do.

WOW, TG!! That's impressive! You seem to have discovered your hidden talent :) I'm going to steal that recipe and attempt to make it over the holidays.
I agree with you about the cooking blogs. I barely have time to post each day, much less whip up something extravagant and photograph it!! Those folks are amazing.
